Like the years in the past, this year also the triumph of Good over Evil or Vijay Dashmi popularly known as Dussehra was celebrated with great spectacle and show in Sector 16 grounds.
With no major arrangements from administration’s side it just looked like some street show with mob pounding from all sides just to get the glimpse of burning effigy of Ravan Meghnath and Kumbhkaran.
There was a time when the preparations of Dussehra use to start from weeks before the fest. People from outskirts of the city and neighboring village used to gather on the eve of the event and stay there late night for shopping and delight.
But the portrait has changed….Dushehra, which used to symbolize the celebration of victory over evil has now merely become a street side ‘tamasha’.
May be the times have changed and our priorities have changed. Now we prefer watching a 50 sec.
Dussehra video on YouTube and Updating our ‘status’ to ‘Happy Dussehra’ on
Facebook rather going on streets and stand in lines to take glimpse of Burning Effigy…
Happy Dussehra.
