PVR Opens Multiplex in Karnal

After several months of preparations, PVR  finally announced the opening of 3 screens multiplex at Harsha K3C Mall in Karnal, Haryana.

The need for a top notch Multiplex has been much anticipated, for long, by the people of Karnal City.

According to PVR, The multiplex is equipped with 2K projection system, next-generation 3D-enabled screens and 7.1 Digital Dolby surround sound in all the three auditoriums.

RAHGIRI KARNAL COMPLETES 3 YEARS !

‘Rahgiri’, a joint effort of the Karnal police and several NGOs to provide a platform to the youth to express their talents, besides interacting with the society, completed three years on Sunday. 

 A grand programme was organised at Sector 12 to mark its third anniversary, which was chaired by Ministers of State Karan Dev Kamboj and Nayab Singh Saini. Former CPS Bakhshish Singh Virk, DC Aditya Dahiya and SP Surinder Bhoria were also part of the celebrations. 

Hundreds of residents, particularly youth, kids and women, enjoyed the event. They were seen playing kabbadi and carrom, singing, dancing, cycling, jogging, walking and taking part in other leisure activities. The event is organised every Sunday at a fixed spot in Sector 12.

Karnal added to National Capital Region

Based on requests from Haryana government, NCRPB approved the inclusion of adjoining districts of Jind and Karnal in NCR zone, Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath said after the NCRPB meeting in New Delhi.
     
This takes the total number of cities in NCR zone to 21.
      
The move aims to ease Delhi's burden as with inclusion of these districts in NCR means more fund for development of infrastructure such as roads, public transport, sewer, health facilities, education and rapid connectivity with the national capital.

karnal news:Road Divider at Clock Tower

The road divider being constructed at G.T.Road from Clock tower up till Cloth Market. Seems it will create more traffic chaos rather than making the situation better, as being claimed by the authorities...

All the traffic going to cloth market and surrounding shops will be diverted via Clock Tower,  further no proper parking at these points will make the situation worst.

Let's see how the traffic police will manage the situation in the coming festive season, the time when we observe heavy rush in these areas.

Volvo bus fell from elevated highway at Nirmal Kutia:

Five persons, including a relative of Praful Patel, union minister for heavy industries and public enterprises, were killed and 12 sustained serious injuries after a luxury bus fell hfrom an elevated highway on the National Highway no-1 in Karnal on Saturday night.

The bus of Manali Mail Volvo service was on its way to Manali in Himachal Pradesh from New Delhi. The accident took place near Nirmal Kutiya.

By the time of filing the report, the district authorities had confirmed the identities of three deceased as Kamlesh Patel of Gujarat, a relative of Praful Patel, Komal of Karnal and Vinod of Bahadurgarh (Haryana).

Deputy commissioner Vikas Yadav, who was supervising the rescue operation, said that identities of two deceased were yet to be confirmed.

Komal had boarded the bus from the city and within minutes met with the accident.

The injured were admitted to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital and other private multi-specialtyhospitals of the city.

The injured had multiple injuries and their condition is stated to be serious.

According to the police, an unidentified body was lying on the elevated highway and probably taking it as an injured person, the bus driver negotiated a sharp turn and the vehicle skidded off the highway.

The DC said that the medical teams were ensuring best possible treatment.

In Karnal, point system rates cops..!

Nowadays, police officers in Karnal in Haryana are competing with each other and their job performance is being evaluated on the basis of a point system that has negative marking too.

The newly introduced point system, much like many entrance tests that are conducted in the country, has maximum weightage of 10 points each for arresting an absconding criminal and solving a sensational crime, including crime against woman.

The concept has been launched by Karnal Superintendent of Police, Shashank Anand, who says that such a mechanism not only keeps the officers on their toes bus also instills a feeling of competition among them, which eventually enhances their performance.


As per the point system, the highest 10 points is awarded for arresting a parole jumper or solving a sensational crime, five points for arresting a proclaimed offender, seizure of illegal arms and ammunition.

In November, among the inspectors, Satish Kumar, SHO of Karnal City police station topped the list with a score of 362.5 points, while among the ASIs, Ram Prakash, in charge of Jalmana police post was at the pole position with 336 points.

No hospital yet, but govt spends Rs 7 lakh in monthly salaries

KARNAL: Even as the first brick of the much-hyped Kalpana Chawla Medical College is yet to be laid, the hospital, which exists only in papers, is costing the state exchequer over Rs 7 lakh a month for the last about one year.

However, no work on construction of the building could be started as authorities had not yet completed the modalities. But the department has gone ahead and appointed 25 staff including director, senior medical officers, accountants, assistants, stenographers, record clerks, data entry operators, drivers and peons.

The collective salary of this staff comes to Rs 7 lakh a month. Though the staffers have virtually no work to do as hospital building is non-existent, they draw full salary from the state government.

This was revealed in a RTI reply to local activist Akshay Sharma. It also revealed that the staff members were also drawing hefty travel expenses. Akshay had filed the RTI query with the department on August 6.

Senior officials of the health department said on condition of anonymity that most appointments for the college were to be made before commencement of construction work, so that the college could get approval from the Medical Council of India.

Two years ago, the state government had announced a medical college in the name of Indian-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla. After prolonged struggle by locals, the state government finally agreed to come up with a medical college in Karnal in memory of the astronaut. In August last year, it was decided to relocate the police lines adjoining the civil hospital to provide land for the Rs 400-crore project.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of officials of departments concerned under the chairmanship of Dr Samir Mathur, secretary (home), Haryana. However, the project soon hit a road block as the government failed to issue a notification in this regard.

The police lines here was to be shifted to a 48-acre land on Assandh road and the 25 acres of existing police lines were to be transferred to the medical college. It had been decided to attach the civil hospital with the college and upgrade it from 200-beds to 300-beds hospital.

Under the proposed project, HUDA was to develop a commercial complex on the campus of the medical college to generate income, which was to be utilised for construction of police lines. However, till date, no foundation stone has been laid at the proposed site of construction, sources said.

Elevated road crumbles in Karnal

A major tragedy was averted on Monday evening when a major portion of one of the elevated roads being constructed on the national highway-1 crumbled down near Shamgarh village.

This portion of the elevated road had been constructed around a month ago. Though the exact cause is yet to be ascertained, senior officials of the NHAI blamed the incessant rain. A huge chunk of the road was washed away and a 30-foot concrete wall too collapsed.
