Doctor shot Dead...!

A doctor was shot dead by robbers at his residence here. Dr. Ashwani Kumar, who was a well known dentist, was shot at after he resisted the attempt of the robbers to loot him last night.
A police patrol party, which reached his house on getting a call, rushed the doctor to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Kumar's wife and the two children were present at the time of the incident.

My Money Stronger…!

For the first time, after nine years, the rupee broke the psychological mark of 40 to touch 39.85 against the world monetary parameter, the U.S. Dollar. The main reason being the sudden spurt in capital inflows.
The effects of the same both positive as well as negative were seen here in karnal also. The other day, when I was talking to one of my friend who deals in gift items, mostly imported ones, told me that for a product for which they had to shell out 43 Rs. earlier was available now for a low of 3.50 Rs.. Similarly the Tour n Travel people are also happy as the cost is down.
On the other hand the appreciation of rupee during the current financial year already effected many sectors like IT, textiles, leather industry, pharmaceuticals. This new phenomenon has forced many mid sized software and other exporters to hedge against the foreign currency fluctuations.
So, we can say
Weak Rupee = lower cost of goods for Indian exports, higher cost to Indians for import products, lower trade deficit
Strong Rupee = lower cost to Indians for foreign imports, higher cost overseas for Indian products, increased trade deficit
Although there is some national pride in having a "strong" Rupee, the economic reality is that a weaker Rupee is generally better for the Indian economy.

The aftereffects of the incidence of Dera Sacha sauda were also seen at Karnal when some 200-300 followers of Dera attacked the vehicle of S.P., soon after which police came into action and started thrashing dera followers as well as other people at the committee chowk. The shopkeepers in a hurry, also forced to shut their premises at the committee chowk. However half an hour after, the clash was averted as police succeeded in prevailing upon the dera followers.
The incidence took place on last Saturday when chief of Dera sacha sauda Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh appearing at a public function dressed as Guru Gobind singh.

Conserving the Environment in Karnal

In a move to discourage the use of polythins in the city, Disst. Authority have been organizing a drive by distributing ‘cloth bags’ to the people. Indeed a good move but it will not be effective until and unless some strict action is taken by the authorities.
The people found using polythins should be fined and side by side shopkeepers should also be fined। Educative programs can also be organized by the authorities.

New ‘Mantra’ for Karnal

After a ten days dry run , Radio Mantra, 91.9FM, the radio venture from the Jagran Group, publishers of the Hindi daily, ‘Dainik Jagran’, was launched in Karnal on April 5 . Now the city has its own Radio station..!!

New Temple for Sector 13

The people of sector 13 have a new place to ‘worship in’. After a long wait finally the temple was opened for the public. Although many people ,like me , miss the old temple but change is the law of nature. The new temple is beautifully designed considering all the basic temple architecture and ‘Hindu Mandir Vastushastra’.

Holi in Karnal City

Like every year the festival of colors, Holi is celebrated with great zeal by the people of karnal city. Its one festival of the year when many the NRKs (Non residential karnalieets!) visit their home place. This year also the streets , were crowded with all sorts of vehicles like cars jeeps motorbikes scooters and of course our good old tractors! Bikes and scooters were roaming without silencers (an old trend for the festival, in the city).
This truly is a great festival celebrated by people from all regions…

New Traffic Signal for Karnal

Recently Karnal saw the installation of its first set of Traffic Lights. For the start lights have been installed at sec. 13-14 crossing near Tagore Hospital & near sec. 12 petrol pumps. As the traffic is inflating day by day it seems that more traffic arrangements will be needed for the smooth pace of the city. I wonder one can expect the story of movie ‘Traffic Signal’ repeating in Karnal.!!

Arya Samaj in Karnal

A religious march was conducted by the member of Arya Kendriya Sabha, ARYA SAMAJ Karnal, Part of a five days BODH UTSAV from 12th till 16th of Feb 2007.

According to Master Dharam Chand Arya, who is an active member of The Arya Samaj from the last 45 yrs., the main aim of Arya Samaj is to spread the ideology of Maharishi Dayanand. He said that Arya Samaj is a Movement against the ill customs and traditions of the society.
According to arya samaj idol worship has no significance.
